Drawing for High School Students

In an exciting new initiative, Arts Alive, in its fourth year of offering quality arts education to Ipswich residents, offers a new class specially for teenagers.

Drawing for High School Students is a course which offers teenagers a strong grounding in all of the important skills needed to unlock their artistic creativity.

Based on the existing Adult Introductory Art course which has been offered for the last three years, this course will give teenagers confidence to develop their own style of art and to try new ways of expressing themselves. It also introduces them to the wonderful artistic skills and techniques that have underpinned the work of all of the great artists throughout the world.

This is a new class and limited to a maximum of six students. It is ideal for students who are not able to study art at high school or want the opportunity for more hands on tuition and experience.

Class days and times:
Wednesdays 4.00 – 6.00 pm

Term fee: $150 including art materials

All teachers working with children have a current Blue Card.

Arts Alive Director, Suzanne Matulich, said that 'Current research shows that young people who participate in the arts for at least three hours on three days each week through at least one full year are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement'
Young artists, as compared with their peers, are likely to attend music, art, and dance classes nearly three times as frequently and read for pleasure nearly twice as often
